Very relaxed Games in an excellent organisational context. The organisational committee, led by former athlete Sebastian Coe, started with a torch relay through Great Britain (and Ireland - Dublin) from the 18th of May until de start of the Games at the 27th of July in which 8000 civilians participated. London was in the grip of the Olympic circus with crowded stadiums, the same applied for the paralympic games. Although the commercial side of the town was complaining because of the severe security measures, the rest of Brtitain was enjoying the Games. Michael Phelps became the most succesfull olympic athlete of all times and Usain Bolt again won three gold medals (100m, 200m and 4x100m), a great achievement as such. There were also no security problems and almost no doping cases, so in short we can speak of Great Games.
